Welcome to the 969 (St Helens) Squadron
ATC website!

On this site you will be able to learn about the Air Training Corps (ATC), its organisation, opportunities, training, aims, and our Squadron activities.

Organisation?  The ATC is a uniformed and disciplined organisation linking back to Headquarters at RAF Cranwell.  The vast majority of staff and Cadets are civilian volunteers based at over a thousand locations across the United Kingdom, of which 969 St Helens Squadron is one.  This subject is covered in detail in the ''Air Training Corps" and "969_(St_Helens)_Sqn" pages of this site.

Training?  As we are the Air Training Corps our training has a strong aviation theme, as well as providing practical skills and knowledge that are useful in civilian life.  We also offer BTEC's and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

Sport?  We encourage participation in a variety of sporting opportunities, including Wing and Regional competitions. Physical Training is part of the ATC and Squadron training syllabus, which helps educate participants of the importance of regular exercise and of the need for a healthy diet.

Flying?  For many Cadets the reason they join the ATC is because of the flying opportunities on offer. 969 Sqn cadets are offered such opportunities at least four times a year.

Uniform?  We provide most of the uniform that a Cadet needs, however to protect your personal hygiene you only need to provide your own footwear.

Join?  We welcome young people between the ages of 13 and 18, and adult volunteers who are prepared to assist us.  For more information see our ''Contact Us'' page and get in touch!

Questions?  If you've not been able to find an answer to your question on this site, or on the ''FAQ'' page, then we'd be pleased to hear from you.  Our ''Contacts'' section will explain how to get in touch with us.

Our website is regularly updated, however if you have any comments or suggestions that may help improve this site please let us know.
